Abstract
The changes induced by the administration of estradiol-17 in the activity of carbamyl phosphate: L-aspartate transcarbamylase in the uteri of immature rats were observed.
A total of 10 ?g estradiol-17 administered intraperitoneally in divided doses, caused a gradual rise in ¢¥the enzyme activity, reaching a maximum value of more than two-fold increase over controls around 30 to 40 hours after the hormone administration. Thereafter the enzyme activity fell to control values again.
A colorimetnc method for the assay off the enzyme activity is presented, which is consisted essentially of precipitating inorganc phosphate liberated from carbamyl phosphate as itriethylamine-phosphomolybdate complex and then colorizing with stannous chloride.
